Yeltzmen Contribution Guidelines
We welcome contributions from all members of the Yeltz community. Whether you are a local historian, a stats buff, or just an ardent Halesowen supporter, we want to hear from you. There are a number of ways you can help our project and help preserve the history of our great club. Listed below are the ways you can assist our work and the guidelines for doing so. Up The Yeltz!
Write a Blog Article
We hope to make our blog a regular feature of every Yeltzman’s week. While we are super excited to share our own research, Yeltz fans (ourselves included) want to hear from a variety of different people. Do you remember your first Halesowen game? Maybe you have fond memories of an old player or manager? Have an interesting Yeltz artifact? Want to make history of a recent event? Have another interesting story you want to share? If so, consider submitting for our blog! Even if you have never written before, we are more than willing to help you craft a piece that you and all Yeltzmen can be proud of. Below are some general guidelines, but if you have questions do not hesitate to reach out to us.
1. Keep your articles to around 500-800 words - about the length of a standard news article. Articles can, of course, be longer or shorter, but this is a good start.
2. Make sure your article includes:
A title
Your name
A one sentence description of who you are, where you are from, and your relationship to the club
Email address (will not be shared publicly unless you specifically request)
3. Whenever a quote is used, be sure to provide details of the original source
E.g. a link to a website, name of a book, etc.
4. Submit all articles as Word or Google Docs files via email to benbullock55@gmail.com
Once you have submitted, your article will be reviewed by one Yeltzmen Blog curator and one outside moderator
All articles will be fact-checked and reviewed for spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Once the articles have been reviewed, we will send back the edited copy for you to check over before it is published
5. Direct any questions to Ben Bullock: benbullock55@gmail.com
Help With Our Research
This blog is part of a wider Yeltzmen history project that aims to preserve the history of Halesowen FC and make it available for all to view. The book Yeltzmen: A History of Halesowen Town Football Club, 1873-2020 was just the beginning of that mission. Our goals for the future include:
Re-modeling the club website’s ‘History’ section
Creating and curating weekly blog content on all aspects of Yeltz history
Create an archival database of matches
Establish a physical archive that is fully curated and accounted for
Create stronger ties with local historical societies
Celebrate the many forgotten Yeltz men and women with plaques, dedications, and family presentations
There are many ways in which you can help our cause. From assisting us with online and/or archival research to proofreading our blog material, every little bit adds up. If you are interested, please contact us both: benbullock55@gmail.com and mattponter20@gmail.com.
Sponsorship
The Yeltzmen Blog is run entirely by volunteers and generously supported by Halesowen Town Football Club. To discuss sponsorship opportunities, please email benbullock55@gmail.com and davehawley@halesowentown.com.
