NEWS FROM THE GROVE
More work completed at the Grove today:
Halesowen Town Football Club would like to detail the proposed work scheduled to take place at the Grove this closed season.
Pitch work: A contractor has been commissioned to start work on the pitch on Friday 5th May 2017, they will undertake the removal of the existing top layer of grass and soil and level the ground before fertilisation and seeding work takes place.
Irrigation: Of course the hard work of seeding and feeding of a new playing surface comes to nothing without correct irrigation. To this end the club has invested in a new irrigation and sprinkler system including new water tank and water pump. The installation work for this is due to commence this week.
Perimeter Fencing: The existing concrete perimeter fencing from the Old Hawne Lane entrance to the Stourbridge Road turnstiles has fallen into a state of disrepair to a point where it is now not economically viable to reinstate in its current form and is becoming dangerous. The whole perimeter fencing will be removed over the summer and be replaced.
We also plan to remove the existing turnstile block which has also become dangerous over recent seasons, this too will be demolished and relocated with a new turnstile block over the closed season.
This is over and above any work proposed by the Friends of the Grove this summer.
The proposed work represents a large financial investment from the club and has been able to schedule this due to sponsorship, the success of the Academy program and increased activity at the Grove without affecting next season’s playing budget.
Although we will be bringing in contractors to carry out most of this work your help over the summer will be greatly appreciated and we will be posting regular updates on the website detailing the work the club and the Friends of the Grove will be undertaking.
