U10S MJPL WINTER CUP WINNERS!!
Our U10s MJPL were able to grace the Wolves Academy 3G turf after winning the group stages of the winter cup topping the group. On the finals day we faced West Bromwich Albion Girls in the semi final and a super performance saw the boys run out 5.0 winners. Onto the final we faced a strong side from the MJPL Leek Wooton FC and after controlling the game but going 1.0 down with 4 minutes to go the Yeltz showed great determination and came back to win the cup 2.1! Well done boys!!
U10S SDYFL TROPHY CUP WINNERS!!
Our U10s SDYFL were entered into a competitive trophy group in with FA rules that are authorised to happen 3 times each season. The lads were put into a group of 6 teams playing 5 games which they finished the group top winning 4 games and losing one. The penultimate game came against Brandhall Colts FC a very strong team who had beaten the Yeltz earlier in the season with both teams needing to win to take home the trophy cup. The Yeltz started very strong and found themselves with a 2 goal lead after 8 minutes then disaster struck...... we only had 7 players available on the day and 10 minutes in our goalkeeper made a brave save but got injured in the process. So with no subs one of the outfield players had to go in goal and the Yeltz were down to 6 In a game that was a must win for both teams. The boys battled, scrapped and played their hearts out to eventually win the game 4.3 and take home the cup!
Well done boys you did Your Coach's, Your Parents and yourselves proud!
U10S MJPL LOOE BAY TOURNAMENT
Our U10s MJPL traveled to Cornwall over the bank holiday and competed in the Looe Bay tournament. The lads did superbly and managed a 3rd place finish missing out on the final by 1 point. We had some great comments on how well the boys performed and how unfortunate they were in not reaching the final after playing 7 games winning 5 and losing 2 scoring 17 goals along the way with an emphatic 10.0 win in the last game! The lads were given the chance to meet ex England Manager Peter Taylor and he gave out their medals on presentation evening. A prestigious "Player of the tournament" award was given to Max AB after being chosen by the tournament referees for his excellent performances over the weekend. Overall the weekend was a very good social time for parents, players and coach's and we cant wait to do it again next year... (We even took over a whole restaurant!)
